…Significant weather advisory for excessive lightning in Paulding…Cobb…DeKalb…Douglas…Clayton and Fulton counties until 345 PM EDT…

At 308 PM EDT…National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm over Sweetwater Creek State Park…moving east at 15 mph.

These storms have the potential to produce pea sized hail…frequent cloud to ground lightning and wind gusts to 40 mph as they move across Paulding…Cobb…DeKalb…Douglas…Clayton and Fulton counties through 345 PM EDT. Some locations in the path of these storms include Campbellton…Fairburn…Bill Arp…Winston… Douglasville…Chapel HIll…Brownsville…Hiram…Union City… Sweetwater Creek State Park…Lithia Springs…Powder Springs… Austell…Sandtown and Mableton. Heavy downpours will cause ponding of water on roadways.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for… northeastern Carroll County in northwest Georgia southwestern Paulding County in northwest Georgia

* until 415 PM EDT

* at 325 PM EDT…National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter sized hail…and damaging winds up to 60 mph. This storm was located 14 miles southwest of Dallas…moving east at 5 mph.

* Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to Union and New Georgia.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

In addition to large hail and damaging winds…continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately! Remember…if you can hear thunder…you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
