UPDATE: The Warning now applies to West Central Paulding County.

A Tornado Warning has been issued for Northwestern Paulding County until 9pm.

Via the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office:

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch that now includes the Metro Atlanta areas. All of North and Central Georgia are included in the watch.

This watch remains in effect until 1am EST.

A watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms with a moderate risk of isolated tornadoes.

ALERT: Severe Weather Approaching

Via the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office:

Currently the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center is forecasting severe storms to develop over much of North and Central Georgia later this evening and continue through the overnight hours.

These storms are developing in advance of a cold front moving south into Alabama and Georgia. Timing of the storm system still varies but most models are indicating a period of 6pm to 2am. The greatest risk time will be before midnight.

Primary hazards are Isolated Tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds and flash flooding.

Persons in North Georgia should monitor local media and/or NOAA weather radio for the latest statements and possible watches/warnings later today.
