… Flood Watch in effect from 4 PM EST this afternoon through Monday afternoon…
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
* Flood Watch for much of north and central Georgia.
* From 4 PM EST this afternoon through Monday afternoon
* persistent rain has already led to excessive rainfall totals from 1 to 3 inches in many locations since Friday. An approaching low pressure system will interact with abundant moisture to produce additional rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches within the watch area through Monday evening.
* Saturated soils will cause additional rainfall to runoff into area creeks and streams which will react to rainfall more quickly than normal due to the saturated ground. Storm drains impeded by fallen leaves may contribute to localized flooding issues. Higher rainfall rates overnight could also lead to isolated areas of flash flooding.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts and possible flood warnings… and be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
