The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Georgia…east
central Georgia…north central Georgia…northeast Georgia…
northwest Georgia and west central Georgia…including the
following areas…in central Georgia…Baldwin…Bibb…
Bleckley…Butts…Crawford…Crisp…Dooly…Houston…
Jasper…Jones…Monroe…Peach…Pulaski…Putnam…Twiggs
and Wilkinson. In east central Georgia…Glascock…Greene…
Hancock…Taliaferro…Warren…Washington and Wilkes. In
north central Georgia…Barrow…Cherokee…Clayton…Cobb…

* From this evening through Wednesday afternoon
* Abundant moisture combined with an upper level storm system will
lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms later today but
particularly overnight into early Tuesday and again late Tuesday
into early Wednesday. Heavy rain will be possible at times over
the watch area including higher rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches
per hour. Portions of the watch area received 1 to 3 inches of
rainfall on Saturday into early Sunday making soils less
permeable to additional rainfall. Additional Rainfall amounts of
2 to 4 inches are possible in the watch area through Noon
Wednesday.
* Flooding in low lying and flood prone areas will be likely,
especially in urban areas. In addition, creeks, streams and
rivers may overflow their banks.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
