Flash Flood Watch
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Paulding County.
The watch is in effect until 11AM on Friday.
National Weather Service reports that a plume of rich moisture and unseasonably strong upper level flow will allow for strong to severe storms to develop across the state and continue through the weekend. Very heavy rainfall is expected today, Thursday and Friday. In addition to a High Flood Risk, dangerous lightning, wind gusts to 60 MPH and hail will be possible with storms.
– Small creeks and streams
– Highways and underpasses
– Country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks
– Low lying areas subject to flooding
PERSONS PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES DURING THIS TIME, INCLUDING FOURTH OF JULY EVENTS, SHOULD MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
Do not drive your vehicle into an area where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your vehicle to cross safely. It only takes 18 inches of water to lift your car or SUV. Persons living in flood prone areas should be prepared to take action should flooding occur. Monitor local media outlets and/or NOAA Weather Radio for later statements and warnings.
