Flood Watch This Afternoon and Evening

… Flood Watch remains in effect from 1 PM EST this afternoon
through Sunday afternoon…

The Flood Watch continues for

* north and central Georgia.

* From 1 PM EST this afternoon through Sunday afternoon

* a low pressure system is expected to develop in the central Gulf
of Mexico and move northeast across Georgia tonight into
Sunday. Rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.5 inches… combined with wet
soil conditions and above normal stream-flows may cause
additional flooding on creeks and rivers.

* A few locations remain in flood from the heavy rain earlier this
week and more heavy rain will only exacerbate the problem. Some
additional locations are likely to go into flood with the most
prone areas being… the Conasauga river near Eton… the
Ocmulgee River from Macon to Abbeville… the Oconee river near
Penfield and… along Big Creek from Cumming to Alpharetta.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
