Via the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office:
The National Weather Service and the NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook that reports a cold front will move into the state this afternoon and produce widespread severe thunderstorms across the area.
Damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning and brief heavy rain can be expected with these storms.
The current forecast reflects that the hours between 3pm and 9pm will be the greatest threat of severe weather.
Persons across North and Central Georgia should monitor local media outlets and/or NOAA Weather Radio for more information. Lightning can be deadly and should be taken seriously. Having to take shelter from a storm during an outdoor activity can seem like an inconvenience however it is the difference between life and death. A good rule of thumb is to stay indoors until 30 minutes have passed after the last clasp of thunder or flash of lightning observed.
